Ideas for gorilla advertising.

We have been tasked to generate ideas for the college , for advertising purposes and attract people towards the college. I think it was supposed to be for an open day but , I misheard and thought it was advertising for the college as a whole.
for my ideas I was mainly thinking about impact and creativity to get people interested in the college or even spark an interest.
These where some of my ideas.

  • Big screen in town. To create a cracked and bleeding effect, and a puddle of the screen bleed on the floor which in the middle will have PCA.
  • To have The college collaborate and ask the council for a patch of land or a wall which students will paint draw on to or design something for. even if its just a fence around a tree but as long as their is something publishing PCA on it. This also gets alot of areas involved and could possibly get names out their.
  • The Black hole was another idea. to get a print or sticker of a hole as real as I can get it to look . so people will stop and look down it and it will have PCA next to it or near it.
  • Finally this idea  was one of my original and firsts. and was to re skin bins and seats around town to look like the college's usb sticks. Depending on the budget they material can change from stick on, paper pate/poster, or a usb made of plywood to go over.

Teaming up!

Me and Thom agreed to team up taking half of the presentation each at the time, by doing this we think our presentation will have more impact plus combining our ideas it will be stronger and sell better to who ever we shall be presenting too.
I believe because of our interring and original ideas  by being together it will also be easier to create concepts of what it will be like.

guerilla advertising ideas.

we went though town looking for things we could manipulate or just things to help generate ideas for ways to advertise Plymouth college of art.

while walking through town i took a few picture of things like , the bins, bench and the fountain in the middle of town.
The ideas i have came up with are .
  • Turning the bench's and bins into the college usb sticks as to me hey are memorable and also they have all the details of the college. how this will be done I'm not to sure yet.
  • Another Idea would be to have white foot steps leading to the college from multiple directions.
  • This idea was made by Thom and it was to have a paintbrush look made of the water fountain and the water colour dyed
  • Finally their was an idea to have something on the wall opposite of the college, which I think could be a reflection oh the college.

The Egg drop challenge

we where given 6 straws,  a roll of masking tape and an egg.
and told we would be dropping it over 1-4 floor to hit the ground , and we had to stop the egg form breaking.

The group was
Jake, AJ ,Billy and Myself.

The first bit we discussed what ideas we should do and then talked about how  we would do it.
then some of us drew the designs for what we where thinking.

in the end we took one Idea and worked with it and adapted it as we went.
We took in account of wind, velocity, surface area and what bit would hit first.

We decided we would use the inner part of the tape reel to take some of the shock.
and added straws around the side to add bounce and a bit of cushioning,
we also put the egg in the middle of the tube so it would take the shock.

Xbox game Presentation

So we did our presentation on Monday
Kyle, Danni, Paige and myself.
Because of absents and some of the group not being in when we worked on our xbox game we didnt have a presentation sorted so we where given some extra time to put together a slid show and sort out who was saying what.
  • I would introduce
  • Danni would talk about character related things
  • Piage would talk about enviroments
  • Kyle would finish up.
I would of said our presentation was amazeing or A rated allthough because of the questions at the end i believe we got across what sort of game we wanted to make got across.
I couldnt realy think of what too say at some points and my sentences wheere full of alot of "ums" and "ohs" due to me not remembering something or remembering. i was not very smooth

We where a bit  unprepared to say the least and i did not look around the class as i was talking .
Their was a point where fingers where pointed at someone for not saying something during the presentation which was totaly uneeded and was part of their speech. which came across like we wernt realy in a team or had little trust in one another.

Overall i think we could of made a decent presentation which had more impact and effect if everyone was in at the same time and  the presentation was preplaned alot more.

Images Related to The game

I choose the images above because they showed something i wanted to get across, their is still life, it is not like fallout where everything is dead but  more because everything isn't getting looked after or maintained things are getting

I choose These pictures because  I think they would look good as view points over the citys. from afar, these would be the citys i would love to make

Game Plan

 Game Story
Post- Apocalyptic world, a virus has turned almost all the human population into a zombie like state.  The remaining human populace has split into fractions, scavenging raiding and fighting over resources to survive. You will have to choose the fraction and create a name for yourself being a ruthless marauder, a prosperous trader or a gun for hire.

Beginning
The game play mainly revolves around you will start in a small defended village which all new players will begin at and learn the basics, Like scavenging , making money, Trading  , making items  and the combat system. When you finish you will be able to leave the place and will be given some basic items to survive and you can now start a journey into the wilds.

Game Play
One finally in the game you can join fractions, trade groups, city defenses, raiders and attacks. This will allow you get get a stable supply of money or items as rewards or loot.
Skills!? I think not. The ability to do things is up to you.
Your choice. You want to get into a town and loot; you don’t just have to run in gunning. You can gib up like a trader and get your way in.

Trade
Through trade you can start your own trade groups each city, having tradable items which they might want or items in the land like water which every city will need. Because you will only be able to carry a certain amount of items you will start of small.  Then slowly get bigger getting animals or vehicles to carry your goods, but will always face the danger of being raided by other places or npc raiders.

Raider
Being a raider can be easy and will make a title for yourself.  Being renown for your criminal actions. Making money though raiding trade caravans. Stealing from lands in the territory of fractions.  And even establishing large raider groups to control sections of the lawless land.

Gun for hire
Defend trade caravan’s cities; gain fame through your achievements and popularity though it being a lone gun with no fraction to be with. Getting jobs where ever you go.

Locations
Garden of Eden – Religious extremists which believe it was the work of god that they are
Atlas – A high tech group prepared since the first stages of the virus.  Look down on the outsiders but keep trade alive, they also protect their territories to the last, have some of the richest lands on the map. Well armed, well trained extremely efficient
Lands’ End - Made of the top traders from the map extremely large with the most land,
Exploration is the key to this game new sites will be added via updates and so on.

What makes this game unique
  • ·         Massive sand box, The first game for a console is this style.
  • ·         Interactive environment
  • ·         Ability to start fraction and gain land and create a fortress. Or buy sections of city to own.
  • ·         No levels
  • ·         Reactions. Walking up to someone wearing a blood soak coat isn't quite the same as a smart leather coat.

Mind maps

These mind maps went around the room to help the groups and class come up with ideas for the chosen audience they got given or choose. these where extremely usfull when you where stuck between ideas because it was easy to follow and see which ones had the most potential form.

Research summary

The reason the majority of the adds shown today where picked was because of there humour usually making you remember then  and want to share it with friends over the inter net possibly making them viral although some smart ones also shown.
The larger the scale of an advert tends on making it more popular being considered EPIC.
All of these things factor into their adverts.
some of the more clever adverts had for instance cap pieces which where all layed out in a way it worked like mouse trap.
another car was enhanced digitally transforming into a robot, both aimed at different audiences.
  • Humour
  • How smart
  • Size of scale(700 people or 1 person)
  • Audience
  • How original they can make it
  • how technical(digital made)
  • Giving a product a human .
  • Shock impact value.
Although most of the adverts look like they got a bit carried away they still allowed you to understand what they where talking about and maintained connections or links to a brand.

Tv Advertiseing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnzFRV1LwIo

This was a TV ad done by Cadbury's. This advert although having nothing to do with the chocolate its fun and stick in your mind , making people talking about it which helps them gain publicity.
I liked this advert for the creativity and how adictive i found it to watch and how i looked forward to it being on tv.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XQg7WJmZjg

This second advert i choose was for Durex. which i thought was realy good! and i stuck in my mind for ages and i made everyone i know watch it or sent them a link. a very viral commercial . although being banned this video got, enuf hits to make it almost viral so it shows how adverts which get banned can possibly be even more popular and still be seen by everyone .

magazine advertisements

This one plays with the sentence it has used and took it into count for the picture . by simply putting someone who looks like their having fun ,running without care with a blue sky over head. this makes the customers see it as a carefree enjoyable experience.
I like this advert for its simplicity  and although the add its self inst large it gives off the feeling its nice airy fun and a large space to relax. which is effective because its an advert for holiday flights.

This advert also had 2 other variations . possibly a different type of athlete to appeal to different groups. this advert is getting the point across using typography and a motion shot of a person running though water making it look refreshing.
This advert kinda makes you thirsty and think the drink is  refreshing and revitalising. which is what you would want in a sport drink, which also shows the targeted audience is. the sporty crowed, or fitness aweare.

This advert is very interesting its eye catching and I don't think their is anything else out their quite like this. it has a stylish model wearing toilet paper which is all shaped like a wedding dress.
i like this advert its very cleaver making toilet paper more then just toilet paper, and fashionable soft silky looking  product.
Making it more attractive and more then it just is.

Web banners.

A web banner is a way to advertise on the internet. this online advertising means you'll had an advertisement on a website or website page. they are made to get more people to take interested in their product and their website. it is an effective way to advertise a company although some people many get annoyed constantly seeing it.

This is a web banner which caught my eye. is a banner for visa cards. it caught my eye because of the white "back in black" which in contrast with the back ground draws attention to it.  because it has the word "visa" on it  you know what its about and that it is trustable due to fact it is a  very well known thing.
i think this banner is effective although being simple it draws you in and grabs you attention.

Firstly i saw the image which made me think it was asking for something because of that hand shape and also because of the world shape in it , thought it might be a word appeal. after reading the writing though which explains what is it for it makes sense. the world being the wiki advert. also they have kept the colours which are used on wiki .

Guerilla adverts

Guerilla advertising are adverts which are made in a more unconventional way which tend on sticking in your mind and being more eye catching. The objective of  guerilla  advertising is to create a unique, engaging and mind grabbing concept to hype the product.

This advert works very well with the logo/ play using a clever on words.  this one caught my eye because of the words and then the bottle its self  in the floor. it is interestingly done which makes it look like its actually sinking into the ground and not just a hole in the floor with a large bottle in it.

I find this a very clever advertisement.  it is a poster placed under an elevator which makes it look like their is a huge drop. although it might be a bit scary you'd definitely remember it. I think this is a extremely clever and unique way of advertising . when i first saw it i believed it was just a view to the ground. this is probably my favourite guerrillas advert i have found so far.
